چکیده

In this report refinement in object-oriented analysis and design is studied. We focus on process aspects of object-oriented designs, in particular protocols. Protocols describe the order of method invocations in a design. Process algebra is used to give semantics to protocols. Hence refinement in process algebra is studied in this report. There are two kinds of refinement in process algebra: ordinary refinement and action refinement. Ordinary refinement changes the structure of the system, not its actions. Several ordinary refinement relations are distinguished after their properties. The kind of action refinement we study is vertical refinement. A vertical refinement relation is defined on top of an ordinary refinement relation and has in addition a refinement function that maps every abstract action to a term of concrete actions. Advantage of vertical refinement is that abstract actions may be interleaved in the concrete system. Because vertical refinement abstracts from data, and this abstraction sometimes yields incorrect designs, read and write information is added to actions. With this information, serialisability of refinements is checked. The theory of vertical refinement is compared with the idea of refinement with transactions. Furthermore, the integration of ordinary refinements is studied. For the integration of vertical refinements, partial results are given. Finally, the theory is applied to object-oriented designs. Conclusion is that especially action refinement offers a great promise for the design of complex information systems. Furthermore, the formal definition of refinement makes a correct implementation in a tool possible.

On Attributes of Objects in Object-Oriented Software Analysis

One of the modern paradigms to develop a system is object oriented analysis and design. In this paradigm, there are several objects and each object plays some specific roles. There is a sequence of activities to develop an analysis model. In the first step, we work in developing an initial use case model. Then in the second step, they identify a number of concepts and build a glossary of partic...

Declarative Semantics in Object-Oriented Software Development - A Taxonomy and Survey

One of the modern paradigms to develop an application is object oriented analysis and design. In this paradigm, there are several objects and each object plays some specific roles in applications. In an application, we must distinguish between procedural semantics and declarative semantics for their implementation in a specific programming language. For the procedural semantics, we can write a ...

Objects Identification in Object-Oriented Software Development - A Taxonomy and Survey on Techniques

Analysis and design of object oriented is onemodern paradigms for developing a system. In this paradigm, there are several objects and each object plays some specific roles. Identifying objects (and classes) is one of the most important steps in the object-oriented paradigm. This paper makes a literature review over techniques to identify objects and then presents six taxonomies for them. The f...

A Framework for Object Identification and Refinement Process in Object-Oriented Analysis and Design

There are already many projects focusing on Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools for object-oriented analysis and design. However, at this moment, there are certain limitations to such solutions, such as, they are concentrated on object-oriented notation and forward/reverse engineering, and the methodology for object identification and refinement are not implemented well. This paper...

Object-Oriented Method for Automatic Extraction of Road from High Resolution Satellite Images

As the information carried in a high spatial resolution image is not represented by single pixels but by meaningful image objects, which include the association of multiple pixels and their mutual relations, the object based method has become one of the most commonly used strategies for the processing of high resolution imagery. This processing comprises two fundamental and critical steps towar...
